Biographical Sketch:

 

Hsu Terry Wang is the president of the New World Bilingual Institute, the International Cultural Consultant for George Mason University (GMU), and the chair of Chinese American PTA. She has taught for over 30 years in the areas of bilingual/multicultural education, leadership and communication to train thousands youth and adults nationally and internationally.

 

Mrs. Wang has been successfully presented a persuasive speech at the at the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) New Curriculum Board, and established the Chinese Language program in FCPS High school in 1996. Again, she has encouraged FCPS to initiate the pilot Chinese program in elementary schools at 2005, and middle schools to follow later as a result. She has been recommended from US Library of Congress to initiate and teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) Chinese Program for the Washington International School. She has been teaching Chinese at WIS for more than 6 years, and has built a solid foundation for its growth. In 2003, Mrs. Wang was asked by NOCFL (China's National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) to assist the AP Chinese development, and joined College Board and ETS for their AP pilot Test in 2006. Mrs. Wang was the representative for Chinese Language at “Year of Language” kick-off Opening Ceremony by US Department of Education and ACTFL on January 13, 2005.

 

She has been honored to give keynote speeches, lead many seminars and workshops in US and aboard. It included US federal government of US Navy, Army, Marian Corp, National Guard, China, Taiwan Government, various international/national universities, schools, cooperates, organizations, conferences, Smithsonian Institution Exhibition Programs, as well as the television and radio stations such as CTC, WNVC, WCTV, FPA, USA Today Radio, and Voice of America.

 

Mrs. Wang produces and hosts the “The New Age Television" which is broadcasting on Fairfax Public Access (FPA) Television Channel 10 and Channel 30. She is a long team guest speaker of "The Youth and Campus", a daily world broadcasting program at Voice of America, and Weekly Educational Columnist of American Business Journal, Washington China Post, www.chinesedc.com and www.bbschinese.com.

 

She is a founding member and committee chair of GMU's Diversity Advisory Board, Leadership Council for The State of Virginia, the Fairfax County Corporate Extension, and several community organizations. Mrs. Wang was a Co-Founder of GMU Asian Heritage Month in 1994.She has been serving as a coordinator on Federal Asian Pacific Council, Asian Pacific Heritage Council, and Fairfax County the Asian Heritage Month celebration for the ongoing annual events. she has been contributing her knowledge and skills in working with many other ethnic groups, and bringing the great harmony among the communities.

 

She was awarded the special Phoenix Award from Toastmasters International, 1994; Toastmaster of the year at 1996, Pillar of Hope Award at 1998. Other than many awards from the Toastmasters International, Mrs. Wang also received over one hundred other prestige awards and honors from US Army, Navy, Marian Corp, National Guard Bureau and other Federal agency, State and County Government, National Audubon Society, International Countries, various Universities, and Organizations for her contribution and leadership excellence in Humanity and Education through out the decades.
