新世界雙語學院校長陳 旭 昭 女士 (Mrs. Terry Wang) 應北京第七屆國際文化旅遊節 (BICTF), 及第二屆天津鼓樓文化節 主委會熱忱的邀請﹐特別精選出的美國大華府 地區著名的喬治梅森大學 George Mason University 精英舞蹈隊,和 百老匯 舞蹈學院之少女舞蹈Dance Etc. School of The Arts (Broadway Dance) 于九月二十二至三十日期間,  帶領這兩個精英舞蹈隊參加國際文化節大會的精彩節目表演及交流。

 

北京國際文化旅遊節 邀請了 二十多個國家參與. 主题 为《节日的欢腾》来庆祝.  以中外文化交流为桥梁,以加强中外群众亲密友谊,并与奥运紧密结合,向世界充分展示现代北京新形象、新景观、新体验,为金秋的北京增添喜庆和欢乐的气氛, 充分体现中国北京国际旅游文化节国际性、民族性和参与性的特点.

 

BICTF 主委會 提供了美國舞蹈隊最優惠的招待, 從抵達北京機場起, 就以VIP 禮待. 表演宴會, ,宿,交通,旅游 長城,故宮, 處處照顧, 令每位參與者均感到異常榮耀. BICTF 對外的聯絡負責人Rose Zhao 和他們特別安排的協調人 Richard Ding, 及第一名導游 Steve Zeng 都是傑出又和善, 對表演團禮待有加, 美國舞蹈隊對他們都非常感謝. 

美國舞蹈隊抵北京第二天就去爬长城, 对那伟大的工程惊叹不已.

总算实现了他们期待多年的梦寐.

第三天更是歡樂的參加了盛大的開幕典禮 盛装行进表演. 大路兩邊擠滿了百萬人以上夾到歡呼的熱情民眾, 美國舞蹈隊一面表演一面進行的時候, 觀眾對他們愛慕的高漲情況是無法言喻的. 這也是舞蹈學員從未見過及感受過的場面及情緒. 尤其是當舞蹈學員走近路邊與觀眾問好時, 大家都大聲歡呼的搶着和他們握手.舞蹈學員們用陳校長教他們的一些中文與觀眾溝通, 更是得到叫好不斷,每個人都非常興奮. 40 位舞蹈學員, 藝術指導老師, 及家長們這才算了解了中國泊濤洶涌的人海力量.

 到了晚上, 兩隊美國舞蹈隊特地被安排在北京有名的朝陽公園大舞台表演. 觀眾擠得水泄不通. Dance Etc. 百老匯 舞蹈, 爵士舞及喬治梅森大學 舞蹈精英隊的現代芭蕾"陽光頌" (Sunlit Sound), 兩種精心設計, 但風格絕然不同舞蹈, 讓觀眾大開眼界.表演完以後, 主辦單北京旅游局于长江局, 國際市場開發處 李繼誠處長 , 李雪梅副處長均立刻邀請

陳 旭 昭 校長 再代為挑選及組織 明年七月的青少年表演隊, 及九月的第八屆國際文化旅遊節表演隊.

 

兩個美國舞蹈隊在中國的九天中一共表演了七場,所 到之處人山人海, 場場掌聲如雷.可見媚力十足. 其間, 他們還應邀參加第二屆天津鼓樓文化節的開幕表演. 也與天津民眾分享了美國的禮儀與文化. 並前後訪問了兩所大學. 一是北京語言文化大學, 一是北京舞蹈學院. 中美都做了相互的舞蹈表演及互動交流. 受益良多.相約後會有期.

由于感激﹐喬治梅森大學舞蹈藝術指導 Susan Shields 教授, 及百老匯 舞蹈學舞蹈藝術指導 Ann Boyle女士, 均為大學藝術舞蹈學院作免費藝術指導及示范。對中國的舞蹈學校及學員有所貢獻。

百老匯 舞蹈Etc 舞學校的舞蹈藝術指導 是Ann Boyle女士-- 她的舞蹈藝術 背景是從美國的芭蕾舞蹈學校,到倫敦皇家芭蕾教師學校。

她曾在美國, 及倫敦各大地區表演多年, 她創建了五所舞蹈學校。 24年前創建舞蹈 Etc.藝術學校 (Dance Etc. School of The Arts)

1990年她被頒贈 Alliance of Community Theaters (ACT) 年度藝術指導獎 Choreographer of the Year。并得到維琴尼亞州長學校頒贈1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2003 年度杰出教育家獎 Outstanding Educator of the Year

Ann Boyle女士除了主管學校及藝術指導之外, 她還教授芭蕾舞, 踢踏舞与爵士舞。在大華府及美國東北部頗負盛名。

喬治梅森大學 George Mason University  藝術指導 

Professor Susan Shields 女士曾隨著名俄國芭蕾舞名家 柏瑞希尼考夫(Baryshnikov) 表演兩年, 又被美國 Lar Lubovitch Dance Company 精英芭蕾邀請在經常在美國及國際各地表演 已有八年。協助華盛頓芭蕾, 美國芭蕾劇院 的各類舞蹈創編事宜。她所創編的創制編導各類舞蹈舞劇, 除了經常被邀請在美國及國際各地表演。哈佛大學 邀請她為訪問藝術指導。最近,  著名的維州狼谷基金Wolf Trap Foundation  和披姿堡芭蕾Pittsburgh Ballet 均演她的最新舞蹈 作品。其中, 作品 Displaced 被美國大學舞蹈慶典協 會選為在甘乃迪中心Kennedy Center 之 國家藝術慶典National Gala Concert 中表演,

精心設計現代芭蕾"陽光頌" (Sunlit Sound) 均深受佳評。

   這次北京國際文化旅遊節的慶典, 讓所有舞蹈學員, 藝術指導老師, 及家長們都深深感動及讚揚不已. 希望有機會也能回請中國的學生.

身為 BICTF 美國邀請代表的新世界雙語學院陳 旭 昭校長, 也是喬治梅森大學國際文教顧問, 及多族裔委員會創會執行組長, 她的任務是除了把美國亮眼歡樂的表演帶給中國人之外, 也在將中華文化, 風土人情介紹給美國人, 並教導他們如何欣賞及應用中國的語言文化, 書法, 生動的表演藝術, 美術藝術及藝術品, 食物及食品, 手工及工藝品等等.這是陳 校長 從多年以來都在積極推動執行的努力. 這也融合了中美共同的民族情和参与性的充分体现特点.紧密结合以中美文化交流的桥梁与友谊. 从一组组的亲善大使, 一泊泊不息的传播出去. 世界的和谐以此文化交流的方式将更有成效. 请大家都能在日常生活中做起, 人类和平的步履就更有望指日以待了.

THE 7TH ANNUNAL BEIJING INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL TOURISM FESTIVAL (BICTF) 2004

The George Mason University (GMU--www.gmu.edu) Dance Company (Creative Dance "Sunlit Song"), Dance Etc. School of The Arts were invited to represent the USA to perform at the 7th Annual BICTF in Beijing, China on September 21 -30. There will be total of 39 student performers, administrators, and parents from these two groups will be led by Mrs. Terry Wang (http://nwbi.us) Representative of the BICTF; President of NWBI; and VP, Sun Cultural Exchange, Inc.( www.sunspectacular.com), She has been conducted a nationwide search since last year. GMU Dance Company and Dance ETC were selected among the best feature performing groups. They are very proud of being selected and committed to go to this outstanding International Education and Culture Exchange Program. All performers?expense in China will be covered by the BICTF. George Mason University Dance Company will be performing "Sunlit Song" crated by the choreographer and faculty member Susan Shield's. "Sunlit Song" is a bright and relentlessly rhythmic dance, joyous and technically challenging. It is performed to "Orawa" by Wojciech Kilar.  has performed internationally with Mikhail Barishnykov and the White Oak Dance Project, Lar Lubovitch, Mark Morris Dance Group, and Laura Dean Dancers & Musicians, and has taught at NYU, Barnard University, etc.. Dance Etc. School of The Arts (www.danceetc.com) will perform 5 difference Broadway Dances, Oklahoma, Chicago, An American in Paris, Hip Pop, and All that Jazz. Since 1998, BICTF has held its Gala Festival to promote cultural diversity and world harmony. The City of Beijing and Beijing Tourism Administration extend its enthusiastic welcome to our team for the gala festival from September 24-29 in Beijing, China. The major invitees of BICTF are the folk arts performing troupes, feature dance teams, and marching Bands from different countries in the world. This international festival is to provide the opportunities for all performing groups to dazzle 13 million Beijing residents and hundreds of thousands television audience around the world as well as to strengthen the friendship among the people all over the globe.

From Washington DC area, Dance Etc. School of The Arts and The Encore Theatrical Arts Project, Inc. were selected in 2003. The Encore Theatrical Arts Project, Inc. was the selected performing group in 2002. Paul XI High School Dance and Cheerleading Teams has selected in 1999 to perform at Beijing and DaLian International Orchestra and International Fashion Festivals. Other USA Performing groups has been selected in last past 6 years were from difference part of the States that included CA., MN, and MA.

George Mason University Dance Company Sunlit Song Choreography: Professor Susan Shields Music: Kilar Wojciech Lighting Design: Robin Lyttle Costume Design: Cat Buchanan Susan Shields, an Associate Professor of Dance at George Mason University, has performed nationally and internationally with several ballet and modern dance companies, including Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project. She was a member of Lar Lubovitch Dance Company for eight years, where, in addition to performing, she assisted Mr. Lubovitch in setting his work on the American Ballet Theater. She has performed with the Mark Morris Dance Group, Laura Dean Dancers and Musicians, Feld Ballet New York, and the Washington Ballet, where she received her training. She has choreographed frequently for the George Mason University Dance Company. Her work has been presented in several venues throughout the United States including, most recently, Harvard University, where she was a visiting Guest Artist. Her work was selected by the American College Dance Festival Association to be performed at the National Gala Concert in the Kennedy Center. On August 24, 2004, the Pittsburgh Ballet will premier her most recent work, commissioned by the Wolf Trap Foundation, at the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts. -------------------------------------------

DANCE ETC. School of the Arts, Ann Boyle -

Artistic Director Mrs. Boyle extensive teaching and choreography experience spans more than 27 years. She received her training in Dayton , New York , and London . In London , she studied at the Rambert School and was accepted into the Royal Ballet School of Teachers. She has been a guest performer with numerous regional ballet companies in the US . and London . She established 4 other schools prior to opening Dance Etc. School of the Arts 20 years ago. She has served on the board of directors for 5 ballet companies. In 1990, she received the prestigious 揅horeographer of the Year Award?from the Alliance of Community Theaters (ACT). She has also been the recipient of the Virginia Governor抯 School Award for the Outstanding Educator of the Year in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, and 2003. She teaches Ballet, Tap and Jazz. DANCE ETC. School of the Arts, was established in 1981 to provide Woodbridge and the surrounding area with Quality Professional Instruction for students of all ages. They've won the prestigious Virginia Governor's Award 6 times and the last 3 years consecutive. The teachers are not only superb instructors but also veteran performers who've toured professionally and know what it's like both on and off the stage. The goal is to provide a fun yet disciplined environment for our students to achieve their dreams and develop their fullest potential in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

She has been an administrator and trainer for more than 30 years in the areas of Bilingual/multicultural education, leadership and communication in the United States and abroad. She is the Producer and Host of 揟he New Age Chinese Television" which is broadcasting on Cable Television Channel 10 and Channel 30 daily. She is a long team speaker of "The Youth and Campus", a daily world broadcasting program at Voice of America. For decades, she has been invited to direct, coordinate, promote and lead numerous successful international, national, community diversity cultural programs, events. Those events have been on the Front Page of the Washington Post, Journals, Fairfax Times, Connection, XinDa Daily News, Washington Chinese News, and World Journal Newspaper Magazine, etc. Mrs. Wang is the weekly educational columnist of American Business Journal, www.chinesedc.com, Washington Chinese Post. She has been invited to give keynote speeches, workshops and seminars at the US federal government: US Army, Navy, National Guard, Marian Corp; Defense Legislates Department, National language Center, County Government, Toastmasters International, China Government; Taiwan Government; various International/National Universities, Schools, Organizations, Corporations, Conferences, Smithsonian Institution Exhibition Programs, as well as the television and radio stations such as CTC, WNVC, WCTV, FPA, USA Today Radio, and Voice of America.

Mrs. Wang is a founding member of George Mason University's Diversity Advisory Board, International Cultural Consultant, Leadership Council for The State of Virginia, the Fairfax County Corporate Extension, and several community organizations. She has helped George Mason University (GMU) established Asian Heritage Month in 1994. She has been serving as a coordinator on Federal Asian Pacific Council, Asian Pacific Heritage Council, and Fairfax County the Asian Heritage Month celebration for the ongoing annual events. Mrs. Wang has been contributing her knowledge and skills in working with many other ethnic groups, and bringing the great harmony among the communities.

Mrs. Wang has initiated the International Baccalaureate Chinese Program and serving as the instructor for the Washington International School since 1999. She also has established the Seven Seas Toastmasters club in January, 1994. In May, 1994, she was awarded the special Toastmasters International Phoenix Award. For 20 years Mrs. Wang has been awarded 3 Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Awards, more than 40 Advanced Leader, Competent leader, and communication Awards. Other than these awards, Mrs. Wang also received numerous other prestige awards and honors from US Federal, State and County Government, National Audubon Society, International Countries, various Universities, and Organizations for her contribution and leadership excellence in Humanity and Education through out the decades.
