2009-2010 --Fun With Chinese Language /Culture/English- every Sunday afternoons -Pre K-Adults--tailored for all levelall ethnics

  New World Bilingual Institute (NWBI) is a 501(c)(3) non profit educational institute that affiliated with George Mason University (GMU), and has partnership with Fairfax County Public School System. NWBI Promotes diverse way of life in cultural and ethical values through the provision of programs emphasizing language, cultural awareness, community service, and leadership and communication.  

  

Classes For all ethnic groups: age 3 to adult--

 Pre K, K-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-12 ; SAT II Chinese Test, AP Chinese, Adult I, II,III, Advanced

(Individual or Group Tutors are available.)

Instructors: all are well developed Professional Bilingual instructors, many of them are in GMU Professional Chinese Licensure Program.

 NWBI Chinese Program  is focusing on daily life living Chinese usage. Emphasizes practical language  Pinyin System in various teaching methods through simple conversation to  upper levels. The Goals is to help everyone to achieve overall abilities in Chinese Language and cultural communication and understanding in an uplifting and fun filled friendly environment.

All classes are tailored for all level learners and all ethnic groups taught by with well trained Experienced Professional Bilingual Mainstream Chinese Teachers. Also includes Special designed classes for the Families with Children from China (Parents and Children could be in same class or separated classes).

NWBI also  provides a spectrum of special designed Chinese, English Language and Culture classes, to serve all ethnic groups and established a Hope Fund to save the underprivileged Children  nationally and, internationally.

This class will broaden student’s creative thinking, quick and effective focused thinking, scientific or general knowledge, benefit anyone from middle school age to adult who wishes to improve their writing, grammar and vocabulary abilities.

2). Advanced Vocabulary Development Class-- 6,7,8 Grades

** Advanced English vocabulary development program --

  (Newly Established program, with the best materials, grade 4 to 12) 

       This class focuses on:

vocabulary development program is designed to increase students' vocabulary, improve their  vocabulary skills, and prepare them for standardized tests and college admission tests. It is the leading multilevel vocabulary-development program for Grades 3 - 12+.  Special features include:

Student Texts that guide and stimulate systematic vocabulary growth; challenging exercises to encourage the development of critical-thinking skills; specially designed sections that build vocabulary skills required for standardized tests; SAT preparation and tests to assess college readiness; a clear, five-step - development approach to vocabulary study.  Word list introduces 300 or more new words per level.

New SAT English Writing /Critical Reading

This class offers intensive training in the Sentence Completion, Critical Reading, Grammar, and Writing sections of the New SAT. Class will take a New SAT Diagnostic Test at the first lesson–It will give you a current measure of where your strengths and areas of improvement! During this 12 week course, the students will take a PSAT practice test and final SAT tests.

 Students will study parts of speech, phrases, clauses, punctuation, sentences and paragraph construction as well as essay composition. You will expand your vocabulary by reading a book 2 to 3 grade levels ahead Students will also be drilled in strategies for accurately answering sentence completion, critical reading, and grammar multiple-choice questions and writing. Each class will have one hour of grammar or writing and one hour of sentence completion or critical reading instruction. Homework will include reading, practicing multiple-choice strategies, and writing assignments due each week. Students should commit to one to two hours of study for the verbal SAT daily.

6). New SAT Math

SAT / PSAT Math Preparation (24 hours/each)-- Instructor masters in math 

This SAT /PSAT math course will be analyzed and the ways to crack test problems. It will be taught and practiced in 12 classes. It helps prepare students to practice and review all levels of SAT math skills, and test-taking strategies.

Diagnostic tests will be given at the beginning, Mock PSAT/SAT tests will be given at middle and the end of the course so the students will be able to see their progress as well as their individual areas for improvement.

Goal:

1). To Help students understand how the test is put together and how it is scored.

2). To learn what strategies and techniques are the most useful for maximizing their scores.

3). To boost their content knowledge by reviewing important math facts and working on skills building.

4). To practice with realistic sample tests so that students will be better prepared for the real SAT test.

6). Adult English Accent Modification

Instructor:  Gwendolyn E. Talbot,DTM , Toastmasters International, A Presidential Citation. Master of Arts Degree Speech Language Pathology- the University of Arizona. She is an excellent professional language Pathologist and Public School English/ Speech Instructor has worked in the field since 1969. She is president and CEO of  Speech Pathology Consultant Services.

7).  TUITION FREE Toastmasters International Leadership & Communication

The leadership Program provides the OPPORTUNITIES TO IMPROVE YOUR PUBLIC SPEAKING AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS –

Each program consists 8 sessions, 16 hours (Every Sunday 3:30-5:40 PM):

Youth Leadership class (ages 10-17) - basic and advanced.     Adult Leadership class (ages 18 and up).

New Classes are Starting on Sunday, Starting—Oct 7, 3:30 PM (Basic materials and manual, Graduation fee only)
